However then the sun came out and the hanger doors were opened. With the gliders ready and the wind onto the ridge, Monique, Simon and Nadanai got their first taste of ridge soaring, with a few extended flights between them.
Having failed to obtain his Silver distance leg, Malcolm set his sights on another element of the Silver qualification, the five hour duration flight. He made excellent progress until he got into the glider and the rain returned. After some time sheltering from the rain, careful study of the BGA rules regarding badge claims revealed he had to be airborne to claim a silver leg, so unfortunatly another failed attempt.
